ISO T50 LPG Tank Container — As-Is Frame & Barrel Recovery

SKU MG-T50-ASIS · Held at Johannesburg, Gauteng

An out-of-test 20ft ISO T50 tank container sold strictly as-is for recovery, refurbishment or frame reuse, purged and sealed before it leaves the Johannesburg depot. This unit is not offered for gas service in its current condition and must not be filled until a competent authority has completed periodic inspection, pressure testing and recertification. It is bought by fabricators and gas operators who want the barrel and ISO frame at a lower entry cost and intend to fund the test cycle, valve overhaul and repaint themselves. Expect surface corrosion on the frame and cladding, aged insulation where fitted, and a valve pack that will need stripping and reseating. The frame corner castings and forklift or crane lift points are sound, so the unit can be moved on standard container equipment. We supply the barrel history we hold and photograph the specific unit allocated to your order before dispatch so there is no ambiguity about the condition you are buying.

The shell is fabricated from Corten A weathering steel — a copper, chromium and nickel alloy that forms a tightly adherent oxide layer instead of the flaking scale you get on mild steel. That patina slows further corrosion, which is why a 25-year-old box can still be structurally sound while a painted mild-steel shed of the same age has perforated.

Side and end panels are 14-gauge (2.0mm) corrugated sheet welded to a rigid frame of rolled top and bottom rails with cast steel corner fittings on the ISO 1161 pattern. Roof panels are 2.0mm with an arch profile that shifts standing water toward the eaves. On tank units the pressure barrel is carbon steel, shot-blasted and finished with a solar-reflective topcoat to limit vapour pressure rise in direct sun.

Expect surface oxidation on used grades: it is cosmetic. We reject units with through-plate pitting, cracked welds at the corner posts, or bowed rails, because those defects affect stacking strength and cannot be repaired economically in the field.
