Compact LPG Tank Container — 8 000 L, In-Test
SKU MG-LPG-TC8K · Held at Johannesburg, Gauteng
An 8 000 litre LPG tank container built into a compact 10ft ISO frame with full corner castings, so the vessel can be lifted by spreader, container lifter or a rated forklift and moved between sites on a normal tilt-bed or flatbed without a special permit. That mobility is the point: contractors, mines and event operators who need bulk gas at a location for six months and somewhere else afterwards avoid the civil works a static plinth demands. The pressure barrel is carbon steel to a 17.5 bar design pressure, insulated where the frame protects it, and the valve work is grouped in a lockable end cabinet with filler, liquid offtake with excess-flow, vapour service valve, relief valve, contents gauge and blanked outlets for transport. A ladder and short top walkway give safe access to the dome. The unit is in-test with its inspection certification current and the CSC plate valid for onward ISO movement, so it can be trucked or railed as freight rather than treated as a fixed installation. Tare mass is roughly 3 400 kg. Delivered empty, purged and gas-free; commissioning and filling by a registered LPG installer.

The shell is fabricated from Corten A weathering steel — a copper, chromium and nickel alloy that forms a tightly adherent oxide layer instead of the flaking scale you get on mild steel. That patina slows further corrosion, which is why a 25-year-old box can still be structurally sound while a painted mild-steel shed of the same age has perforated.
Side and end panels are 14-gauge (2.0mm) corrugated sheet welded to a rigid frame of rolled top and bottom rails with cast steel corner fittings on the ISO 1161 pattern. Roof panels are 2.0mm with an arch profile that shifts standing water toward the eaves. On tank units the pressure barrel is carbon steel, shot-blasted and finished with a solar-reflective topcoat to limit vapour pressure rise in direct sun.
Expect surface oxidation on used grades: it is cosmetic. We reject units with through-plate pitting, cracked welds at the corner posts, or bowed rails, because those defects affect stacking strength and cannot be repaired economically in the field.
