Compact LPG Tank Container — 12 000 L, Freshly Recertified
SKU MG-LPG-TC12K · Held at Johannesburg, Gauteng
A 12 000 litre framed LPG tank container that has just completed a full periodic inspection and recertification in our Johannesburg workshop, making it the longest-dated compact tank on the yard. The barrel was degassed, internally inspected, ultrasonically thickness-mapped and hydrostatically retested, and the entire valve set was renewed rather than serviced: filler valve, liquid offtake with excess-flow protection, vapour service valve, relief valve, gauges and blanked transport outlets are all new components with traceable certification. The steel frame was needle-gunned and repainted in a dark industrial enamel, and the corner castings were checked for deformation so the unit still handles cleanly on a spreader or container lifter. The barrel carries a fresh light-coloured coating with no third-party markings, ready for your own placarding once the gas supplier commissions it. Capacity suits multi-burner process plant or a depot that decants into smaller vessels. Tare mass is approximately 4 300 kg. It ships empty, purged and gas-free with the recertification, thickness and CSC documentation, for commissioning and first fill by a registered LPG installer.

The shell is fabricated from Corten A weathering steel — a copper, chromium and nickel alloy that forms a tightly adherent oxide layer instead of the flaking scale you get on mild steel. That patina slows further corrosion, which is why a 25-year-old box can still be structurally sound while a painted mild-steel shed of the same age has perforated.
Side and end panels are 14-gauge (2.0mm) corrugated sheet welded to a rigid frame of rolled top and bottom rails with cast steel corner fittings on the ISO 1161 pattern. Roof panels are 2.0mm with an arch profile that shifts standing water toward the eaves. On tank units the pressure barrel is carbon steel, shot-blasted and finished with a solar-reflective topcoat to limit vapour pressure rise in direct sun.
Expect surface oxidation on used grades: it is cosmetic. We reject units with through-plate pitting, cracked welds at the corner posts, or bowed rails, because those defects affect stacking strength and cannot be repaired economically in the field.
