40ft High Cube Retail & Exhibition Unit — Turnkey Conversion
SKU MG-40MOD-RETAIL · Held at Johannesburg, Gauteng
A 40ft high cube one-trip unit converted into a customer-facing retail and exhibition space, built for activations, forecourt trade, market sites and branded pop-ups. The build includes a hydraulic or manually braced canopy panel that lifts to form a serving counter and shade, an aluminium shopfront with glazed door, insulated and lined walls and ceiling, vinyl or epoxy flooring, LED track lighting, plug circuits on a compliant distribution board with earth leakage protection, and a split air-conditioner. Internal height of the high cube shell leaves room for a lined ceiling and services while keeping roughly 2.4 m of finished headroom. Electrical work is completed to SANS 10142 with a certificate of compliance issued for the unit, and the exterior is finished in two coats of industrial enamel in your brand colours. Because the shell stays a standard ISO unit, the whole shop can be craned onto a trailer and moved to the next site. Signage and vinyl wrap can be quoted as an extra.

The shell is fabricated from Corten A weathering steel — a copper, chromium and nickel alloy that forms a tightly adherent oxide layer instead of the flaking scale you get on mild steel. That patina slows further corrosion, which is why a 25-year-old box can still be structurally sound while a painted mild-steel shed of the same age has perforated.
Side and end panels are 14-gauge (2.0mm) corrugated sheet welded to a rigid frame of rolled top and bottom rails with cast steel corner fittings on the ISO 1161 pattern. Roof panels are 2.0mm with an arch profile that shifts standing water toward the eaves. Flooring is 28mm marine-grade plywood over steel cross-members on nominal 300mm centres, rated for a 7 260 kg forklift axle load.
Expect surface oxidation on used grades: it is cosmetic. We reject units with through-plate pitting, cracked welds at the corner posts, or bowed rails, because those defects affect stacking strength and cannot be repaired economically in the field.
