40ft High Cube Reefer — Floral & Produce Humidity Control

SKU MG-40HCREEF-FLR · Held at Johannesburg, Gauteng

A 40ft high cube reefer configured for cut flowers, herbs and delicate fresh produce, where the enemy is not only heat but dehydration and air blast. The fit-out adds a humidity control unit with a wall-mounted humidistat, adjusted air deflection so product is not dried out by direct evaporator flow, and a set point band around +2 to +8 degrees C that suits mixed floral and produce loads. The refrigeration set is run-tested and pull-down verified, and the stainless T-bar floor is left clear so buckets, crates and trolleys roll straight in. Growers, florists, wedding and event suppliers and fresh-produce wholesalers use this configuration as a holding room between harvest or delivery and sale, where an extra two days of vase life or shelf life is the difference between margin and waste. Usable volume is roughly 66 m3 on a 400 V three-phase supply. Crate racking, a strip curtain and a data logger can be added at quotation.

The shell is fabricated from Corten A weathering steel — a copper, chromium and nickel alloy that forms a tightly adherent oxide layer instead of the flaking scale you get on mild steel. That patina slows further corrosion, which is why a 25-year-old box can still be structurally sound while a painted mild-steel shed of the same age has perforated.

Side and end panels are 14-gauge (2.0mm) corrugated sheet welded to a rigid frame of rolled top and bottom rails with cast steel corner fittings on the ISO 1161 pattern. Roof panels are 2.0mm with an arch profile that shifts standing water toward the eaves. Flooring is 28mm marine-grade plywood over steel cross-members on nominal 300mm centres, rated for a 7 260 kg forklift axle load.

Expect surface oxidation on used grades: it is cosmetic. We reject units with through-plate pitting, cracked welds at the corner posts, or bowed rails, because those defects affect stacking strength and cannot be repaired economically in the field.
