40ft High Cube Reefer — Dual-Temp Blast Chill Partition
SKU MG-40HCREEF-BLAST · Held at Johannesburg, Gauteng
A 40ft high cube reefer split into a fan-assisted blast chill section and a holding store, so hot product can be pulled through the danger temperature band quickly and then moved into steady storage without leaving the unit. The blast section carries high-velocity fans and its own control, while the rear zone runs as a conventional chill or freeze store behind a heavy insulated partition and door. Kitchens, caterers, bakeries, ready-meal producers and small abattoirs use this arrangement to meet food safety cooling requirements without building two separate rooms. Both zones report to displays mounted where staff can read them, and the stainless T-bar floor runs unbroken through the unit for trolley access. Total usable volume is roughly 64 m3 after the partition. This build draws more current than a single-zone reefer: we size the supply requirement with your electrician at quotation and confirm the breaker and cable specification in writing before fabrication starts.

The shell is fabricated from Corten A weathering steel — a copper, chromium and nickel alloy that forms a tightly adherent oxide layer instead of the flaking scale you get on mild steel. That patina slows further corrosion, which is why a 25-year-old box can still be structurally sound while a painted mild-steel shed of the same age has perforated.
Side and end panels are 14-gauge (2.0mm) corrugated sheet welded to a rigid frame of rolled top and bottom rails with cast steel corner fittings on the ISO 1161 pattern. Roof panels are 2.0mm with an arch profile that shifts standing water toward the eaves. Flooring is 28mm marine-grade plywood over steel cross-members on nominal 300mm centres, rated for a 7 260 kg forklift axle load.
Expect surface oxidation on used grades: it is cosmetic. We reject units with through-plate pitting, cracked welds at the corner posts, or bowed rails, because those defects affect stacking strength and cannot be repaired economically in the field.
