40ft High Cube Reefer — Clip-On Diesel Genset

SKU MG-40HCREEF-GEN · Held at Johannesburg, Gauteng

An operational 40ft high cube reefer supplied complete with a clip-on diesel generator set mounted on the front frame, so the unit is independent of the grid from the moment it is placed. The genset hangs in the standard front recess, drives the reefer directly and carries its own fuel tank sized for extended unattended running, with an hour meter and low-fuel indication. This is the configuration that keeps working through load shedding, and the one that makes a reefer usable on a mine site, a remote farm, a festival ground or a relief deployment where three-phase power simply does not exist. The reefer itself is run-tested and pull-down verified, holding set points from -25 degrees C to +25 degrees C across roughly 67 m3 on a stainless T-bar floor. Fuel consumption, service intervals and the change-over to mains power when it is available are all covered at handover, and our workshop can service the genset on a scheduled contract.

The shell is fabricated from Corten A weathering steel — a copper, chromium and nickel alloy that forms a tightly adherent oxide layer instead of the flaking scale you get on mild steel. That patina slows further corrosion, which is why a 25-year-old box can still be structurally sound while a painted mild-steel shed of the same age has perforated.

Side and end panels are 14-gauge (2.0mm) corrugated sheet welded to a rigid frame of rolled top and bottom rails with cast steel corner fittings on the ISO 1161 pattern. Roof panels are 2.0mm with an arch profile that shifts standing water toward the eaves. Flooring is 28mm marine-grade plywood over steel cross-members on nominal 300mm centres, rated for a 7 260 kg forklift axle load.

Expect surface oxidation on used grades: it is cosmetic. We reject units with through-plate pitting, cracked welds at the corner posts, or bowed rails, because those defects affect stacking strength and cannot be repaired economically in the field.
