40ft High Cube Reefer — Butchery Rail Fit-Out

SKU MG-40HCREEF-RAIL · Held at Johannesburg, Gauteng

A 40ft high cube reefer fitted out as a hanging chill room for abattoirs, butcheries, game processors and export packers. Stainless steel overhead rails run the length of the ceiling on rated brackets with sliding hooks, sized and spaced so carcasses hang clear of walls and each other for proper air circulation and even chilling. Wall panels are finished for wash-down, all internal corners are coved or sealed, and the stainless T-bar floor drains to a fitted outlet so the room can be hosed and sanitised between loads. The refrigeration set is run-tested and holds chill set points around 0 to +4 degrees C for carcass duty across roughly 65 m3 of usable space on a 400 V three-phase supply. Rail height, hook spacing and load rating are confirmed with you before fabrication, since they follow your species mix and throughput. Buyers should confirm the fit-out against their own environmental health and export certification requirements.

The shell is fabricated from Corten A weathering steel — a copper, chromium and nickel alloy that forms a tightly adherent oxide layer instead of the flaking scale you get on mild steel. That patina slows further corrosion, which is why a 25-year-old box can still be structurally sound while a painted mild-steel shed of the same age has perforated.

Side and end panels are 14-gauge (2.0mm) corrugated sheet welded to a rigid frame of rolled top and bottom rails with cast steel corner fittings on the ISO 1161 pattern. Roof panels are 2.0mm with an arch profile that shifts standing water toward the eaves. Flooring is 28mm marine-grade plywood over steel cross-members on nominal 300mm centres, rated for a 7 260 kg forklift axle load.

Expect surface oxidation on used grades: it is cosmetic. We reject units with through-plate pitting, cracked welds at the corner posts, or bowed rails, because those defects affect stacking strength and cannot be repaired economically in the field.
