40ft High Cube Freezer Container — -25 °C Duty

SKU MG-40HCREEF-FRZ · Held at Johannesburg, Gauteng

A 40ft high cube reefer selected and tested for sustained deep-freeze duty, giving roughly 67 m3 of hard-frozen storage in a single relocatable unit — the cheapest route to bulk freezer capacity when building a cold room is not an option. Freezer duty exposes any weakness in a refrigeration set, so each unit is run down to -25 degrees C against local summer ambient and monitored through a full defrost cycle before we release it; compressor capacity, evaporator fans, defrost heaters, door seals and insulation are all checked and gaskets renewed where needed. The stainless T-bar floor lets air move under a full pallet load so the far end holds temperature as well as the machinery end. Typical buyers are abattoirs, fishing and poultry operations, ice cream distributors and bakeries. The unit needs a 400 V three-phase supply on its own breaker, and we strongly recommend generator backup for frozen stock; both can be quoted with the container.

The shell is fabricated from Corten A weathering steel — a copper, chromium and nickel alloy that forms a tightly adherent oxide layer instead of the flaking scale you get on mild steel. That patina slows further corrosion, which is why a 25-year-old box can still be structurally sound while a painted mild-steel shed of the same age has perforated.

Side and end panels are 14-gauge (2.0mm) corrugated sheet welded to a rigid frame of rolled top and bottom rails with cast steel corner fittings on the ISO 1161 pattern. Roof panels are 2.0mm with an arch profile that shifts standing water toward the eaves. Flooring is 28mm marine-grade plywood over steel cross-members on nominal 300mm centres, rated for a 7 260 kg forklift axle load.

Expect surface oxidation on used grades: it is cosmetic. We reject units with through-plate pitting, cracked welds at the corner posts, or bowed rails, because those defects affect stacking strength and cannot be repaired economically in the field.
