40ft Dry Container — Wind & Water Tight, Repainted

SKU MG-40DRY-WWTP · Held at Johannesburg, Gauteng

A 40ft standard-height unit graded wind and water tight and then needle-gunned and repainted in a single industrial enamel colour, so it presents cleanly on a customer-facing yard or farm while costing far less than a one-trip box. The roof, side panels and door seals were light-tested before repainting; any pinholes were welded and dressed rather than filled. Internal dimensions are approximately 12.03 m long, 2.35 m wide and 2.39 m high, giving roughly 67 m3 of storage volume on a repaired marine plywood floor. Cargo doors seal on replacement gaskets and swing on greased locking gear. This grade is intended for storage, workshops and conversion bases; it is not sold with a valid CSC plate for shipping line service. Tilt-bed delivery needs roughly 30 m of straight clearance behind the placement point, or supply a crane or a forklift rated above the unit tare weight for flatbed offload.

The shell is fabricated from Corten A weathering steel — a copper, chromium and nickel alloy that forms a tightly adherent oxide layer instead of the flaking scale you get on mild steel. That patina slows further corrosion, which is why a 25-year-old box can still be structurally sound while a painted mild-steel shed of the same age has perforated.

Side and end panels are 14-gauge (2.0mm) corrugated sheet welded to a rigid frame of rolled top and bottom rails with cast steel corner fittings on the ISO 1161 pattern. Roof panels are 2.0mm with an arch profile that shifts standing water toward the eaves. Flooring is 28mm marine-grade plywood over steel cross-members on nominal 300mm centres, rated for a 7 260 kg forklift axle load.

Expect surface oxidation on used grades: it is cosmetic. We reject units with through-plate pitting, cracked welds at the corner posts, or bowed rails, because those defects affect stacking strength and cannot be repaired economically in the field.
