20ft Solar-Hybrid Refrigerated Container

A 20ft refrigerated container prepared for solar-hybrid operation, with a low-profile roof frame carrying photovoltaic panels feeding an inverter and battery cabinet mounted at the machinery end. During daylight the array carries a large share of the cooling load, and the battery bank rides through load shedding so setpoints hold without a diesel generator running. The container itself remains a standard relocatable ISO body with hygienic white lining, aluminium T-bar floor and a serviced refrigeration set. Farms, clinics and off-grid depots use this configuration where grid supply is unreliable. The shell is fabricated from Corten A weathering steel — a copper, chromium and nickel alloy that forms a tightly adherent oxide layer instead of the flaking scale you get on mild steel. That patina slows further corrosion, which is why a 25-year-old box can still be structurally sound while a painted mild-steel shed of the same age has perforated.
Side and end panels are 14-gauge (2.0mm) corrugated sheet welded to a rigid frame of rolled top and bottom rails with cast steel corner fittings on the ISO 1161 pattern. Roof panels are 2.0mm with an arch profile that shifts standing water toward the eaves. Flooring is 28mm marine-grade plywood over steel cross-members on nominal 300mm centres, rated for a 7 260 kg forklift axle load.
Expect surface oxidation on used grades: it is cosmetic. We reject units with through-plate pitting, cracked welds at the corner posts, or bowed rails, because those defects affect stacking strength and cannot be repaired economically in the field.
