20ft Refrigerated Container — Plug-and-Play Three-Phase Kit

An operational 20ft reefer supplied with the electrical connection work already done, so the unit can be energised on the day it lands rather than waiting for an electrician. The kit adds a weatherproof lockable isolator, a 32 A five-pin industrial socket and plug arrangement, a 20 m heavy trailing lead and phase-rotation protection, all wired and tested in our Johannesburg workshop to SANS 10142 practice and handed over with a certificate of compliance for the fitted work. The reefer itself is run-tested and holds set points from -25 degrees C to +25 degrees C over roughly 28 m3 of insulated volume on a stainless T-bar floor. This configuration is the one most site managers ask for, because the single biggest delay on a reefer install is not the container but the supply: you still need a suitable three-phase feed and breaker, which our team will confirm with you at quotation before delivery is scheduled.

The shell is fabricated from Corten A weathering steel — a copper, chromium and nickel alloy that forms a tightly adherent oxide layer instead of the flaking scale you get on mild steel. That patina slows further corrosion, which is why a 25-year-old box can still be structurally sound while a painted mild-steel shed of the same age has perforated.
Side and end panels are 14-gauge (2.0mm) corrugated sheet welded to a rigid frame of rolled top and bottom rails with cast steel corner fittings on the ISO 1161 pattern. Roof panels are 2.0mm with an arch profile that shifts standing water toward the eaves. Flooring is 28mm marine-grade plywood over steel cross-members on nominal 300mm centres, rated for a 7 260 kg forklift axle load.
Expect surface oxidation on used grades: it is cosmetic. We reject units with through-plate pitting, cracked welds at the corner posts, or bowed rails, because those defects affect stacking strength and cannot be repaired economically in the field.
