20ft Reefer — As-Is Machinery Recovery Unit

A non-running 20ft reefer sold strictly as-is for spares recovery, rebuild projects or use as an insulated shell after the machinery is stripped out. The refrigeration set does not hold temperature and is not repaired before sale; buyers are typically refrigeration workshops recovering compressors, condenser coils, evaporator fans, controllers and valve blocks, or fabricators who want an insulated body at the lowest entry cost. Expect corrosion on the cladding and frame, aged or damaged insulation in places, and a floor that may need attention. The structure, corner castings and lifting points remain sound so the unit can be craned or tilt-bed delivered normally. Nothing about the cooling performance is warranted and the unit is not offered for cold storage in its current state. We photograph the specific unit allocated to your order, including the machinery bay, before dispatch so you can judge exactly what is recoverable before you commit.

The shell is fabricated from Corten A weathering steel — a copper, chromium and nickel alloy that forms a tightly adherent oxide layer instead of the flaking scale you get on mild steel. That patina slows further corrosion, which is why a 25-year-old box can still be structurally sound while a painted mild-steel shed of the same age has perforated.
Side and end panels are 14-gauge (2.0mm) corrugated sheet welded to a rigid frame of rolled top and bottom rails with cast steel corner fittings on the ISO 1161 pattern. Roof panels are 2.0mm with an arch profile that shifts standing water toward the eaves. Flooring is 28mm marine-grade plywood over steel cross-members on nominal 300mm centres, rated for a 7 260 kg forklift axle load.
Expect surface oxidation on used grades: it is cosmetic. We reject units with through-plate pitting, cracked welds at the corner posts, or bowed rails, because those defects affect stacking strength and cannot be repaired economically in the field.
