ISO propane tank compliance

• Manufacturer data plate: serial number, build date, design code, design pressure and shell material.
• CSC safety approval plate for tanks moved as ISO freight, with a valid next-examination date.
• Most recent periodic inspection and pressure-test record, and the date the next test is due.
• Previous service history — the last product carried matters if you are changing service.
• Transport documentation for the road move, since LPG is classified dangerous goods.

The documentation status of each tank we list is stated on the listing and repeated on the formal quotation, along with the serial number.

• Pressure-relief valves present, correctly rated and within their replacement interval.
• Liquid and vapour valves, excess-flow protection and the emergency shut-off operating freely.
• Contents gauge and pressure gauge readable and intact.
• Manway and flange gaskets in serviceable condition, with no evidence of a temporary repair.
• Frame, walkway and ladder sound; no cracks at the frame-to-shell attachments.

• Look for shell dents, gouges and any weld repair that is not documented.
• Check corrosion at frame feet, under the cradle saddles and around fittings.
• Confirm the shell and insulation cladding are intact where fitted.
• Ask for the tank to be opened for internal inspection where the intended service requires it.

LPG installations are governed by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the applicable SANS standards, and require separation distances from boundaries, buildings and ignition sources, plus bunding, bollard protection and fire equipment appropriate to the volume stored. Commissioning, filling and gas-work must be carried out by a registered LPG installer who issues a certificate of conformity, and your insurer and local fire authority will usually want to see it. We supply the tank and its documentation; we do not certify the installation.

• Confirm whether you need a CSC-plated unit for onward ISO movement or a static storage tank.
• Arrange your registered installer before delivery so commissioning follows placement quickly.
• Plan offloading: a loaded frame tank is heavy and needs rated lifting gear at the corner castings.
